View ProfileWhy might you need an ultrasound-guided aspiration?
Fluid build-up within a joint, known as an effusion, can cause significant pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. This is most commonly seen in the knee, which is the joint most frequently treated with aspiration. Removing excess fluid helps to relieve pressure within the joint, reduce inflammation, and improve movement, often providing immediate symptom relief.
Can aspiration be combined with injection therapy?
Ultrasound-guided aspiration is often performed alongside a joint injection to enhance treatment outcomes. Once excess fluid has been removed, medication can be introduced into the joint to reduce inflammation and support recovery. At our clinic, we offer a range of injection options tailored to your condition.
What can you expect during the procedure?
The procedure is carried out in clinic and usually takes around 20–30 minutes. It is performed under ultrasound guidance to ensure accuracy and safety throughout.
Why choose our clinic for ultrasound-guided aspiration?
Our clinic in South Wales is led by an experienced specialist physiotherapist with advanced training in ultrasound-guided procedures. We use high-quality imaging technology to ensure precise needle placement, maximising both safety and effectiveness.
We focus on delivering evidence-based care that helps reduce pain, restore function, and minimise disruption to your daily activities.
We want to ensure that all of our patients receive the information they need to make an informed decision about their treatment. If you have any questions or if you require assistance with anything, please let us know.
