How Saebo Physiotherapy Equipment Works

We are the only physiotherapy clinic in Wales to have a Saebo Rejoyce. The Saebo ReJoyce is an upper extremity rehabilitation workstation designed for patients with impaired function of the arm and hand. It consists of a handset on the end of an arm which is linked to a computer. The handset consists of 6 different grips which are manipulated to control a wide variety of task-oriented computer games. The difficulty of the games can be adjusted to the appropriate level for the patient and baseline measures and progress can be stored in the patient's electronic profile. We have had excellent feedback from our physiotherapists regarding its effectiveness in improving hand and arm function. Our patients report that the games are a fun and challenging alternative to standard hand therapy. Our physiotherapists are able to offer a fitting service for all the splints and orthoses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Saebo Rejoyce?

Saebo Rejoyce is an innovative rehabilitation device designed to help individuals with neurological conditions such as stroke, brain injury, or cerebral palsy regain hand and arm function. The device uses functional electrical stimulation (FES) to encourage muscle movement, helping improve motor skills and promote neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to adapt and reorganize after injury.

How does the Saebo Rejoyce work?

Saebo Rejoyce works by providing functional electrical stimulation (FES) to the hand and wrist muscles, which helps activate the nerves and muscles that may be weak or non-responsive due to neurological damage. The device encourages coordinated movement and helps the brain re-establish motor patterns, improving function over time. The treatment is individualized to each patient’s specific needs and progress.

Who can benefit from Saebo Rejoyce therapy?

Saebo Rejoyce is particularly beneficial for individuals who have suffered neurological impairments, including those with stroke, traumatic brain injuries, or conditions like multiple sclerosis or cerebral palsy. It is especially effective for individuals who are working to regain or improve their hand and arm function, mobility, and daily activity independence after neurological damage.

Is Saebo Rejoyce therapy painful?

Saebo Rejoyce therapy is not painful, but patients may feel a mild tingling or contraction in their muscles due to the functional electrical stimulation. This sensation is typically well-tolerated, and the intensity of stimulation is adjusted based on comfort levels. Your physiotherapist will guide you through the process to ensure the therapy is both effective and comfortable.

How many sessions of Saebo Rejoyce therapy will I need?

The number of sessions required varies depending on your individual goals, progress, and the severity of your condition. Typically, patients see benefits after several weeks of consistent therapy. Your physiotherapist will assess your progress regularly and tailor the treatment plan to suit your specific needs, ensuring the most effective recovery process.

How do I get started with Saebo Rejoyce therapy?

If you are interested in Saebo Rejoyce therapy, contact us to schedule a consultation with one of our experienced physiotherapists. They will assess your condition and determine if Saebo Rejoyce is appropriate for you. Once assessed, your physiotherapist will design a personalized treatment plan to help you achieve your rehabilitation goals.
