The Independent Physiotherapy Service has a specialist elderly rehabilitation and falls prevention service. The statistics show that his is an extremely important area of physiotherapy and it can significantly reduce the risk of falls and the resulting injury and ill health.
Injury due to falls is the leading cause of mortality in people aged over 75 in the UK. 25% of fallers will sustain serious injury. Half of all fallers will fall again within 12 months. A well designed falls prevention programme, monitored by a chartered physiotherapist can significantly reduce the risk of falls.
